Resin Earrings With Silicone Moulds: Studs, Findings and Finishing

Earring Silicone Mold (9927901) - Haanz Sri Lanka
Haanz Art GuideFree, practical advice from the team at Haanz Art & Craft Materials

Resin earrings are one of the most popular small resin projects. A silicone mould gives you perfectly matched pairs, and with a few findings you can turn them into studs or drop earrings in an afternoon. This Haanz Art Guide covers the earring moulds and findings we stock and how to finish earrings neatly.

Earring silicone moulds

Our earring moulds are made from flexible silicone, so finished pieces pop out easily and the moulds can be used again and again. Each design has its own code, and the product photos show the exact shapes:

Earring findings

Findings are the metal parts that turn a resin shape into wearable jewellery.

Step by step: resin stud earrings

  1. Prepare. Work on a level, covered surface with gloves on. Make sure the mould is clean and dry.
  2. Mix the resin exactly as the instructions say. Stir slowly to avoid bubbles.
  3. Add colour or inclusions such as mica, glitter, foil flakes or tiny dried flowers. See How to Colour Resin.
  4. Fill each cavity slowly with a stick or pipette. Fill matching cavities to the same level so pairs look identical.
  5. Pop bubbles with a toothpick.
  6. Cure fully as the resin instructions say before demoulding.
  7. Attach the studs. Sand the back lightly, then glue the stud pad on with a strong craft or jewellery glue, or a tiny drop of resin. Let it cure completely.

Drop earrings with pins

If your mould shape has a small hole, or you drill one after curing, you can hang the piece from an eye pin or jump ring and attach an earring hook. Our Resin Jewellery for Beginners guide explains drilling and linking.

Tips for a professional finish

  • Matching pairs: pour both earrings from the same mix at the same time.
  • Shiny backs: if the back is dull, brush on a very thin coat of resin and let it cure.
  • Clean edges: trim or sand any rough edges gently.
  • Comfort: keep earrings light. Thin, small pieces are more comfortable to wear.
  • Packaging: if you sell earrings, mount each pair on a small card for a neat look.

Resin or polymer clay?

Resin gives glossy, see-through or glassy pieces with inclusions. Polymer clay gives solid, matte colours and shapes you can cut freely. Many earring makers use both. See our Polymer Clay Earrings guide.

Safety

Always wear gloves, work in a room with good air flow and keep resin away from children and pets. Read Resin Safety before you start.

Frequently asked questions

Which studs are better for sensitive ears?

Many people with sensitive skin prefer stainless steel studs. If unsure, test one pair first.

Why did my earrings come out sticky?

The resin may not have been measured or mixed properly, or it hasn’t cured fully yet. See Resin Problems Solved.
