Resin Rings, Bangles and Hair Clips: Mould Guide

Wearable resin pieces like rings, bangles and hair clips are fun to make and popular as gifts. A resin ring mould or bangle mould gives you a smooth, even shape every time, so you can focus on colours and inclusions. This Haanz Art Guide explains the moulds we stock and how to pour and finish wearable pieces so they are comfortable and strong.
Moulds we stock
All of these are flexible silicone moulds that release pieces easily and can be reused. Check the product photos for exact sizes and shapes.

Choosing the right size
Rings and bangles must fit. Before you pour:
- Measure a ring that fits the wearer, or wrap a strip of paper around the finger and measure it.
- For bangles, measure the widest part of the hand when the thumb is folded in, because the bangle has to slip over it.
- Compare these sizes with the mould. If the mould is the wrong size, choose another design rather than forcing it.
Pouring rings and bangles
Rings and bangles are deep, narrow moulds, so they need a little extra care:
- Mix resin exactly as directed and let bubbles rise for a minute.
- Pour slowly in a thin stream into one point of the mould and let it flow around. Pouring in several places traps air.
- Tap the mould gently on the table to release bubbles.
- Add inclusions such as foil flakes, glitter or tiny dried flowers part-way through.
- Top up to the rim and let it cure fully. Deep pieces need the full curing time.
Epoxy resin is usually better than UV resin for thick bangles, because UV light can’t reach deep inside a thick pour.
Hair clip decorations
Hair clip moulds make flat or slightly domed decorations:
- Pour a thin layer and add colour, glitter or a sticker.
- Cure, then demould.
- Sand the back lightly so glue grips.
- Glue onto a metal or plastic clip base with strong craft glue and let it set.
Hair clips are a great way to use up leftover resin from other projects.
Finishing for comfort
- Smooth the edges. Sand any sharp ridge with fine sandpaper under water, then brush on a thin top coat for shine.
- Check the inside of rings and bangles. Any rough spot will rub the skin.
- Polish small areas with a soft cloth. Our Resin Tools and Accessories guide covers sanding and polishing.
Colour ideas
- Clear resin with gold foil flakes.
- Ocean blue with white swirls.
- Pastel pink with tiny dried flowers.
- Colour-block bangles: pour one colour, let it gel, then pour a second.
For tinting, see How to Colour Resin.
Caring for silicone moulds
Silicone moulds last a long time if you look after them:
- Demould gently by flexing the silicone. Don’t pull pieces out with tools.
- Wipe moulds clean with a soft cloth or tape to lift dust. Don’t scrub with anything rough, or the shiny finish of future pieces will suffer.
- Store moulds flat, out of sunlight, and don’t stack heavy things on top, so they keep their shape.
- Keep a separate set of moulds for resin only. Food and resin should never share moulds.
Frequently asked questions
Will a resin ring break easily?
Fully cured resin is quite strong for everyday wear, but thin rings can crack if dropped on a hard floor. Thicker designs are more durable.
Why is my bangle cloudy inside?
Tiny bubbles or moisture can cause cloudiness. Pour slowly, work in a dry room, and see Resin Problems Solved.
Do you deliver islandwide?
Yes. We deliver across Sri Lanka in 2–5 working days, with cash on delivery, card or bank transfer. You can also visit our shops in Boralesgamuwa and Horana, open every day from 9 AM to 6 PM.
