Resin Bags and Handles: Bag Crafting and Handle Moulds

Resin handbags and clutches are an eye-catching trend: clear or colourful panels with flowers, glitter or foil inside. A resin bag mould with holes lets you cast the bag pieces, and handle moulds or metal handles finish the look. This Haanz Art Guide covers the bag crafting and handle moulds we stock and how to plan a resin bag project.
Bag crafting moulds with holes
These silicone moulds cast bag pieces with holes already formed, so you don’t have to drill them later. Check each product’s photos for the exact shape, size and hole positions:
- Bag Crafting Mold with Holes, Bear
- Bag Crafting Mold with Holes, Heart
- Bag Crafting Mold with Holes, Circle
- Bag Crafting Mold with Holes, Rectangle
The bear and heart shapes suit fun children’s bags and gift bags; the circle and rectangle suit elegant clutches and handbags.
Handles
Resin handle moulds let you cast handles to match your bag panels:

- Handle Silicone Mold D1620
- Handle Silicone Mold D1621
- Handle Silicone Mold D1622
Metal handles give a sturdy, polished finish:

Planning a resin bag
- Choose the shape. Decide on bear, heart, circle or rectangle.
- Plan the inside design. Pressed flowers, glitter, foil flakes or a soft colour. Sketch it on paper the same size as the mould.
- Decide how pieces join. Use the holes to connect the panels with cord, ribbon, chain or thread, following the shape of your design.
- Choose the handle. Resin handles match the panels; metal handles are stronger for daily use.
Pouring the panels
- Clean the mould and set it on a level board.
- Mix resin as directed and pour a thin first layer.
- Arrange flowers or glitter with tweezers, keeping them away from the holes.
- Pour the remaining resin slowly, without covering the hole posts.
- Pop bubbles and cover against dust.
- Cure fully before demoulding; thin panels can bend if removed early.
- Sand any sharp edges smooth, especially around the holes.
For flowers, see Choosing Pressed Flowers and Leaves; for colours, How to Colour Resin.
Making it strong and comfortable
- Pour panels slightly thicker for bags that will carry weight.
- Use a strong cord or chain to join panels.
- Choose metal handles for bags that will be carried often.
- Keep resin bags away from strong sun and heat, and don’t overfill them.
Ideas to try
- A clear circle clutch with pressed babysbreath and gold flakes.
- A pastel heart bag for a child, joined with ribbon.
- A rectangle bag with a marbled pattern and gold metal handle.
Caring for silicone moulds
Silicone moulds last a long time if you look after them:
- Demould gently by flexing the silicone. Don’t pull pieces out with tools.
- Wipe moulds clean with a soft cloth or tape to lift dust. Don’t scrub with anything rough, or the shiny finish of future pieces will suffer.
- Store moulds flat, out of sunlight, and don’t stack heavy things on top, so they keep their shape.
- Keep a separate set of moulds for resin only. Food and resin should never share moulds.
Frequently asked questions
Can I make a resin bag without the bag moulds?
You can use flat moulds and drill holes after curing, but bag moulds with holes save time and give neater results.
Will a resin bag break if dropped?
Resin can crack on hard floors, so treat a resin bag as a special-occasion piece rather than an everyday bag.
