Resin Tools and Accessories: What You Really Need to Start
Good resin tools make resin art cleaner, easier and less wasteful. You do not need everything at once, but a few basics, such as proper mixing cups and reusable silicone tools, make a big difference to your results. This guide explains what each tool does, so you can build your kit step by step.
Resin tools for measuring and mixing
- Measuring cups: an Epoxy Mixing Cup with clear markings helps you measure resin and hardener accurately. Correct measuring prevents sticky resin.
- Silicone cups: reusable Silicone Cups and the Small Silicone Pouring Cup with a spout. Cured resin peels off, so they last a long time.
- Stirrers: a Silicone Mixing Stick is reusable and easy to clean.
- All-in-one sets: the Epoxy Resin Tools set covers measuring, mixing and pouring for beginners, while the Silicone Tool Set 32 pcs suits regular makers and workshops.
Pouring and effects
- Split pouring cup: the Split Pouring Cup (2 compartments) pours two colours at once for swirls and cells in coasters and trays.
- Heat gun: an Electric Heat Gun 300W pops bubbles on the surface of epoxy and helps move colours. Keep it moving and at a distance.
- Tweezers: the Thread Trimmer & Tweezer Set helps you place tiny flowers, foil and findings precisely.
- Foil flakes: Silver Foil Paper 100ml adds a shimmering, luxurious touch to coasters and geode art.
Curing
- UV lamp: essential for UV resin. Read our UV lamp guide to choose between handheld, desktop and flashlight types.
- Dust cover: any clean plastic box or container placed over curing pieces keeps dust and hairs off.
- Level surface: a small spirit level helps keep pours even.
Frames, tape and finishing
- UV tape: UV Tape Roll seals open-back bezels and frames for pouring, then peels away after curing.
- Drill: the HSS Twist Drill Set with 10 tips makes fine holes for keychains and pendants.
- Pliers: a Crafting Plier opens jump rings and attaches findings.
- Sanding: Sand Paper with Handle, 6 sheets smooths sharp edges on cured pieces. Wear a dust mask.

Which tools for which project?
- Coasters and trays: epoxy, measuring cup, silicone cups and stick, split pouring cup, heat gun and sandpaper.
- Earrings and pendants: UV resin, UV lamp, small moulds or frames with UV tape, tweezers, pliers, jump rings and ear hooks.
- Bookmarks and keychains: epoxy or UV resin, bookmark or letter moulds, drill, pliers and tassels.
- Geode and ocean art: epoxy, mica, alcohol ink, foil flakes, heat gun and a dust cover.
Buying tools to match the projects you actually plan to make is the easiest way to avoid wasting money on things you will not use. Start small, then add tools as your skills grow.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use plastic cups and wooden sticks?
Yes, but they are single use. Silicone tools cost a little more at first and can be reused many times.
Do I need a heat gun?
Not at first. A toothpick works for small pieces. A heat gun is helpful for larger epoxy pours.
What tools do I need for UV resin?
A UV lamp, a mould or frame, UV tape for open frames and a toothpick. UV resin needs no mixing cups.
Do you deliver islandwide?
Yes. We deliver across Sri Lanka in 2–5 working days, with cash on delivery, card or bank transfer. You can also visit our shops in Boralesgamuwa and Horana, open every day from 9 AM to 6 PM.
